Sino-German Video Conference on Trauma Surgery was held successfully on May 21st jointly by the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, Traumatology Committee of Shantou Medical Association, and BGU Murnau. Prof. Fabian Stuby, the Medical Director of BGU Murnau, was invited to give a talk titled Fracture Associated Approaches for Different Acetabular injuries online. Prof. LIN NiYang, an executive of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College gave a warm welcome to the attendees and Prof. HU Jun, the Chief of the Dept. of Orthopedics moderated the whole meeting and presented cases for discussion. The attendees also included many orthopedics colleagues across Shantou city.

Before his lecture, Prof. Stuby said it was also a great pleasure for him to attend the webinar. With the title of Fracture Associated Approaches for Different Acetabular injuries, the lecture consists of elaboration of preoperative considerations, the “Gold-Standard” approach, alternatives, fracture/approach relations and recent developments.
After Prof. Stuby’s talk, Prof. HU Jun and his team had a heated discussion with Prof. Stuby on the topics of indications and reduction techniques of laparoscopic acetabular surgery; reasons for switching laparoscopy-assisted reduction to open reduction during operation; approach selection for femoral head fracture combined with acetabular fracture of the posterior wall, and so on. Following the discussion, Prof. Hu reported 3 cases of pelvic fractures treated by lateral-rectus approach, introducing the clinical characteristics, images and surgical techniques in detail.

Prof. Stuby appreciates the reported cases and their nice reduction a lot. Prof. Stuby shares the same view with Prof. Hu that reduction is the key point of treating all kinds of acetabular surgeries. During the discussion, Prof. Stuby answered and proposed suggestions elaborately according to the questions raised by Prof. Hu, regarding the reduction techniques and the rehabilitation.
To conclude, Prof. Hu expressed his gratitude towards Prof. Stuby for his sharing, wishing to have further communication in the future.
