Sino-German online video conference on spinal complicated cases discussion, supported by 5G transmission, fell on April 24, 2020. The conference lasted for two hours from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. As the presidents of this conference, LIN Haibin, President and Secretary of Party Committee of Affiliated Hospital of Putian College and Dr. Klaus John Schnake, Chair of Center for Spinal and Scoliosis Therapy, Schön Klinik Nürnberg Fürth, Germany carried out online exchanges on cases report and discussion.
Concerning cervical kyphosis after laminectomy, Dr. Schnake carefully demonstrated intraoperative tricky points and post-op sound functional recovery, which was quite refreshing and beneficial for Chinese colleagues. Subsequently, President Lin reported his case titled “Case Sharing of Microscope-assisted OLIF for Revision of Cage Retropulsion after MIS-TLIF Surgery”, presenting a novel minimally invasive approach with advantages of less cost and quicker recovery.
Other attendees shared their cases following President Lin, including Prof. RUI Gang from The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen, Prof. XU Jie from Fujian Provincial Hospital, Prof. XU Weihong from Fuzhou Second Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University. The whole procedure reached its climax when all parties made their own expression.
Conclusion By Dr. Schnake
“Thank you for all participating and contributing surgeons. I think we have seen a nice variety of different surgical techniques and different solutions for problematic cases. The conclusion that I would like to make is that no matter what technique we use, we have to achieve a proper, only good fusion. So technique is helpful, however, at the end we don’t have to sacrifice our surgical goals. And one surgical goal is that if you stabilize, you achieve a fusion. So that is what I want to conclude. And thank you for your time.”
