Dongguan People's Hospital was founded in the 14th year of Guangxu period of Qing dynasty, 1888 AD. Its predecessor was Chinese Christian Rheneish Missionary Society Puji Hospital established by the German Basel Mission. It is one of the earliest Western hospitals installed in China. It has witnessed three centuries and has gone through more than 100 years of history. At that time, buildings of the hospital were built with red wall and green tile, which was Western-style , and was referred to by the locals a Red Mansion hospital. The nickname lasts until now.
This year marks the 130th anniversary of the establishment of Dongguan People's Hospital. In April of this year, Health Commission of Guangdong Province delivered a good news-- after a three-day high-standard rigorous evaluation by the provincial hospital management evaluation and quality control center, Dongguan People's Hospital reached new national standard of IIIA-Grade hospital and was rated as a IIIA-Grade hospital.
This demonstrates a brand new progress in its overall strength such as management capacity, technology, quality and safety. 4,529 employees in total in the hospital have embarked on a new journey to pursue higher goals.
Zhang Yalin, secretary of the Party Committee of the hospital, stated: "The hospital must be comprehensively led by the suggestions put forward by the expert group, adhere to the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, fully implement the people-centered development concept, and closely follow the overall situation of public hospital reform and development. The hospital must accurately meet the health needs of the people, continuously improve the level of medical services. Understand the requirements more deeply, keep up the achievements, strive to improve the service level, promote better and faster development of the city's medical and health undertakings, influence the city and surrounding districts, and strive to become a well-known regional general hospital in Guangdong Province."

Head of Dongguan People’s Hospital, Cai Limin brought new ideas to the development of the department for improving medical service. A department is the basic unit for medical activities in hospitals. It is the carrier of medical technology and medical talents. It is the foundation for the development of hospitals. Strengthening the construction of the department, strengthening the communication between the department and the outside world are good approaches to promoting all work and continuous progress.
