The academic conference led by Prof. Stefano Boriani, an Italian bone tumor master, was successfully held at Foshan Hospital of TCM. It was hosted by Foshan Hospital of TCM and co-organized by Gloryren Orthopedics.
Prof. Boriani was the main speaker of the conference. The attendees included Xiaofang Liu, President of Foshan Hospital of TCM; Director Wumin Chen; 所长 Lichu Liu; Director Honggang Guan; Director Zhenglin Cao; Director Rongjun Mao; Director Shouguo Zhou; Director Yongqiang Lao.
At the conference, Prof. Boriani conveyed a topic on “Current Spine Tumor” and shared successful cases of spine tumor, which triggered heated discussion.

What’s more, Prof. Boriani with Xiaofang Liu watched a promotional video of Foshan Hospital of TCM. The video showed its history of the hospital. The approaches of Traditional Chinese Medicine were very traditional and unique, with Foshan characteristics. After watching the video, Prof. Boriani was very impressed and kept saying, “Amazing!” He even asked for a copy back. The conference was a high-end academic big event of Foshan Hospital of TCM and also of the medical community. It was a precious opportunity for the experts of China and Italy to exchange ideas and learn from each other. International Academic Seminar of Jiangmen, Zhongshan and Zhuhai was successfully held at Jiangmen Central Hospital.
The seminar invited Prof. Stefano Boriani, a world top bone tumor master. This was a huge event of academic community, and also a gathering of excellent doctors.
Prof. Boriani shared three successful medical cases of spine bone tumor, especially bone marrow cancers which occurred repeatedly on cervical vertebrae, C2 chordoma, and lumbar vertebral tumors.
During his sharing, Prof. Boriani brought brand new ideas with advanced medical theories and abundant surgical experience. It triggered heated discussion among the doctors at the seminar. Many of them took photos of the ppt to take notes.
After the speech, Prof. Boriani discuss key difficult cases with experts from Jangmen, Zhongshan and Zhuhai. The discussion was heated. Prof. Boriani also gave precious suggestions.
Prof. Boriani offered brand new international knowledge. This seminar offered the chances to promote communication. At the same time, it was a spectacular academic event, boosting the development of bone tumor treatment.

Prof. Michael Mayer, an international minimally invasive surgery master, was invited to Shantou Central Hospital to have academic communication.
The academic conference was hosted by Bendan Lin, Vice President of Shantou Central Hospital. Prof. Yue Ding of Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital was invited to interpret the conference. Haixiong Xu, President of Shantou Central Hospital, and many famous orthopedic experts from the east area of Guangdong Province attended the conference.

There were many questions that need to be answered. Questions continued to be raised. After having the answers, the participants rethought it and gained a lot. The process was precious, and everyone was eager to try and wanted to participate. This exchange offered an opportunity for Prof. Mayer and doctors of Peking University Third Hospital to have deep communication. It also enhanced orthopedic treatment and promoted the construction of Orthopedics Department. January 23rd, 2018 International minimally invasive spine surgery master Prof. Miachael Mayer's trip to China in January ended at Chinese PLA General Hospital. In this academic communication trip, Director Yan Wang of Chinese PLA General Hospital introduced the spine surgery team to Prof. Mayer. Prof. Mayer brought a wonderful academic sharing, and the venue was fulfilled. Later, when Director Yan Wang led Prof. Mayer to visit the hospital and the department, Director Yan Wang presented Prof. Mayer's new book Spinal Osteotomy and signed the book. The Chinese spine master and the German spine master have joined their forces. This handshake represented the perfect end of the tour of Prof. Mayer.

2018WCMISST (World Congress of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery &Techniques) was the sixth conference since Dr. Sang Ho Lee first held it in Hawaii in 2008. It was in Chongqing, China on June 7th -10th, 2018.
WCMISST is held every two years and is attended by nearly a thousand doctors. It is recognized as one of the most important conferences for minimally invasive spine surgery.
At 8am on June 2nd, 2016, at the ICC Conference Center in Jeju Island, South Korea, the organizing committee held the WCMISST Board Meeting to discuss the host country of WCMISST2018.
At that time, there were four countries participating in the competition. A total of 12 people had the right to vote, 10 of which voted for China. We successfully won the qualification of holding the 6th WCMISST in China!
This indicates that after China successfully hosted PASMISS Meeting in 2012 and successfully hosted the 34th ISMISS in 2016, China would host another world minimally invasive spine surgery conference, which would also be a grand event for Chinese minimally invasive spine surgery field.
In the opening speech, Prof. Yue Zhou, Chairman of the 6th WCMISST and the Xinqiao Hospital, said that there were representatives from 26 countries participating in the conference. There were more than 70 delegates from abroad, including more than 40 Famous minimally invasive spine surgery experts of them gave different forms of speeches at the meeting; more than 1,000 minimally invasive spine surgeons from different levels in China came to study, and more than 150 Chinese spine surgeons had academic exchanges here.

The masters brought 46 topics to the attendees. The first one who gave a presentation on the stage was Prof. Michael Mayer, an international master of minimally invasive spine surgery.

Spine master Prof. Michael Mayer was invited by Tongji Hospital and Wuhan Union Hospital for a two-day academic exchange.

Invited by Director Feng Li, Prof. Mayer visited the wards of Spine Surgery Department and checked three medical cases and CT scan. After that he gave suitable treatment.
The second stop of his trip to Wuhan was Orthopedic Hospital of Wuhan Union Hospital. It used to be the Orthopedics Department of Wuhan Union Hospital and was founded in 1950s. It was awarded as the one of the “Two Red Flags” of China’s orthopedics field in 1960s and received the honor from Premier Enlai Zhou.

The meeting was presided over by Prof. Zengwu Shao, President of the Orthopedic Hospital. The attendees included Director Baojun Xiao and orthopedic doctors. Around a hundred people attended the meeting. This time Prof. Mayer talked about the 35-year history of minimally invasive spine surgery.
Prof. Mayer got around the wards. After careful examination of the patient, Prof. Mayer gave a pertinent treatment opinion and read the other three special cases to give a satisfactory treatment plan.

International spine master Prof. Michael Mayer was invited by Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital and Shanghai Changzheng Hospital to have a two day academic communication.

Prof. Shisheng He is a famous minimally invasive spine surgery expert in China. He is one of the most experienced experts in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery in China. Prof. He studied at Schön Klinik München Harlaching in 2004 and 2013. He co-authored Minimally Invasive Spinal Fusion with Prof. Mayer.
Prof Mayer was invited to the Orthopedics Department to Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital. He delivered a lecture on the topic of the 35-year history of minimally invasive spine surgery, and introduced the 104-year history of Schön Klinik München Harlaching.
During Prof. Mayer’s visit to Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital, the Orthopedics Department received a patient whose condition suddenly deteriorated. Prof. He invited Prof. Mayer to have a inspection on the patient. Prof Mayer gave suitable treatment advice.
Prof. He was pretty glad about Prof. Mayer’s visit to the hospital. The meeting between a teacher and a student is always pleasant.
The Spine Surgery Department is the largest department of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, and a national pioneer of this field. Currently, there are over 5000 spine surgery in the Spine Surgery Department. Spine surgery has become a significant field of Shanghai clinical center.

With the end of the Shanghai Changzheng Hospital tour, Prof. Mayer's academic trip to China had come to an end, and Chinese doctors have benefited a lot from the small-scale academic exchanges.
June 29th to July 1st, 2018
The 15th International Forum on Orthopedic Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy/the 1st Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit of Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy was held in Qingdao.
39 internationally renowned experts from 20 countries and regions, nearly 100 top domestic scholars, and more than a thousand orthopedic workers at home and abroad attended the event. Prof. Markus Walther, Dean of Schön Klinik München Harlaching and the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, was invited to attend the event as an international lecturer at the conference.

Prof. Daniel Rosenthal, an international master of minimally invasive spine surgery and the director of the spinal surgery center in Hochtaunus Kliniken, is the first international visiting professor who is employed by Jiangmen People’s Hospital.
In the period, Prof. Yizhong Lin led the orthopedics doctors in Jiangmen People’s Hospital with Prof. Rosenthal to do academic communication in the ways of operating the transforminal endoscopic surgery and other spine surgeries with relatively higher risks, giving academic speeches, discussing cases, etc. Prof. Lin said before Pro. Rosenthal’s arrival, he was doubtful about him. However, after the communication with Prof. Rosenthal, he gained a lot from their conservation. Here are his gains: First of all, Prof. Rosenthal has been the members of many countries’ society in global and the former president of The German Spine Society, whose achievement in thoracoscopic spine surgery. Prof. Rosenthal has more skills and wider vision. Apart from rigorous attitude of scholarship, he brings us a new concept, which are different from national concepts. In China, the concept of minimally invasive spine surgery is that operation loss is small with small incisions. However, Prof. Rosenthal gives us a new concept of minimally invasive spine surgery is that we should try our best to decrease the damage to the nervous system with microscope, which will provide us a new direction of our operation. The second concept is that Prof. Rosenthal puts patients first. To the treatment of patients, he follows the principle of avoiding operation if it can. He thinks that operations are the last choices for patients. If it has to operate, we should try our best to do a minor operation instead of doing a major operation. Operating with minimally invasive technology to solve the problems directly. Moreover, we should consider about the economic conditions of patients and try our best to find the inexpensive method/ materials. The third concept is not to be an imagine doctor who operate according to MRI or CT. We should find the real causes of the symptom instead of doing a preventative operation. Prof. Lin said that Prof. Rosenthal’s visit to China is a promotion for the hospital and him to boost the orthopedics clinical technology, step a new level of construction of the hospital and give confidence to the development and scientific construction of his hospital. September 29th to 22nd December, 2018 Gloryren Orthopedics Technology Co., Ltd. provided an opportunity for Prof. Jiawei Feng, the deputy director of orthopedics department in The People’s Hospital of Jiangmen, to visit Hochtaunus Kliniken for three months. Prof. Feng said that operating room is a significant site for visiting scholar. Prof. Yanqing Shao, a orthopedics expert of Huizhou First Hospital, went to Schön Klinik München Harlaching in Germany for visit and study for three months.
Prof. Shao said that it’s his pleasure to operate with famous German orthopedics professors because those professors are hospitable and rigorous, who shared a lot of key points at the process of procedure. Gloryren Orthopedics Technology Co., Ltd. provided an opportunity for Prof. Zhonglian Huang, an expert of bone department in The First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, to visit and study in Schön Klinik München Harlaching for six weeks.
There are four operation rooms in spine department of Schön Klinik München Harlaching. German academic meeting at a national level------The 13th Annual Conference of The German Spine Society was held in Germany. This conference accommodated 1,200 people with 16 parallel sessions. About 100 international large-scale enterprises took part in and 2,500 spine experts attended at the meeting.
The German Spine Society was built by Prof. Michael Mayer in 2006. Its annual conference has been the 13th. In 2006, The 1st annual conference of The German Spine Society was held in Munich with Prof. Michael Mayer as its founding chairman. In 2019, the 14th annual conference of The German Spine Society will be held back in Munich, which will be the home-court of Chinese outstanding spine experts.
